Relationship Officer

Purpose of the Role

The role will be accountable for business growth and development: meet and surpass the set budget by creating and increasing awareness of the Bank while exploring other areas of attaining incremental business in the banks various business segments such as Deposits, CASA, Forex (treasury sales), Cards (credit, prepaid & debit), Assets (asset finance, loans & advances, NFI), Insurance & IPF, in order to increase profitability and develop long-term customer relations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Grow the branch customer base and expand the business growth through marketing of the Bank’s products and services.

  2. Ensuring revenue growth through customer acquisition, new need identification, product cross-sell and re-engineering.

  3. Ensure that the target market selection criterion is adhered to and that we are in full compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti Money Laundering (AML) requirements.

  4. Manage customer relationships for the bank.

  5. Preparation of all reports required to monitor work progress – daily, weekly and monthly performance against set targets.

  6. Providing an interface between the bank, existing and prospective customers in order to maintain good customer relations so as to meet customer needs within the strategic objective of the bank

  7. Ensure frauds and operational losses do not occur

  8. Ensuring continuous achievement of the bank’s financial and operating goals in line with the statutory-legal framework

Skills and Competencies

  1. Business acumen, a confident negotiator and ability to close deals

  2. Sales and relationship management skills with ability to grow business from existing accounts

  3. Self drive and motivation, ability to use own initiative and take responsibility

  4. Good presentation and communication skills (both written and spoken)

Education, experience and skills

  1. Must hold a University Degree(Business Related Degree)

Professional qualification

  1.  AKIB, Diploma in Business Disciplines is an added advantage

  2. In depth understanding of financial Regulatory environment


At least one year experience in:

  1. Relationship Management

  2. Credit Risk Management or

  3. Branch Operations Management
